Delete your account
How to ask for your account in the Gakuin app and the school portals to be deleted, what is deleted, and what your school keeps.
Last updated 17 September 2026
What this covers
The Gakuin app for Android (com.bjorst.gakuin), published by Bjorst, and the school portals that run on the Gakuin service. Your school gave you your account, and one account signs you in to both, so deleting it ends both.
How to ask
- Sign in to the Gakuin app, or to your school's portal in a browser.
- Open your account settings. In the app, open Profile. On the portal, open Account or Settings from the menu. Office staff find it under Settings, then Security.
- Choose "Ask to delete my account" and enter your password, so we know it is you asking.
- Your school decides. Your school issued your account, so its head approves or declines the request. Until then you can withdraw it from the same place.
When your school approves, your account is deleted straight away and we email you to say so. If it declines, we tell you in the app and by email, and you see its reason in your account settings. If you have forgotten your password, use "Forgot password" on the sign-in screen first.
What is deleted
- Your access. You can no longer sign in to the app or to your school's portal.
- Every signed-in session, on every phone and browser, so you are signed out everywhere at once.
- The notification tokens for your phones, so the app stops sending you notifications.
What is kept, and for how long
Your school's records stay with your school. Deleting your account does not delete them. The school is in charge of them and has to keep them: attendance, marks, report cards, fees and payments, medical notes, messages sent to the school, and files handed in or attached to an application. They are kept for as long as your school needs them, and academic records are kept long term, because a former pupil may ask for a transcript years later.
- Your name and email address stay on those records, so the school can still tell whose they are.
- Your closed sign-in, which is your email address and your password stored as a one-way hash, is kept with the closed account. It cannot be used to sign in.
- Daily copies of the database taken before your account was deleted are replaced by newer copies within 14 days.
To see, correct, or ask about your school's records, write to your school office. The Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 gives you these rights, and your school is who acts on them.
If you need an account again
Ask your school. It can give you a new account, and your school's records will be there as before.
